Food Recovery Far North Coast is an initiative of the Consortium of Neighbourhood Centres – Far North Coast. Food Recovery aims to rescue edible food from local supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Rescued food then provides healthy, nutritious meals and food parcels to community members across Far North Coast NSW. The aim is to connect communities with free food to support those most vulnerable.

The Mullumbimby and District Neighbourhood Centre has been a hive of activity lately. Mel has been at the helm creating all manner of wonderful meals utilising the food recovered from participating supermarkets in the Food Recovery Far North Coast Program.

You may have noticed large Food Recovery Van around town lately, give Nathan a wave next time you see him.

Delicious Potato and Leek Soup, curried sausages, zucchini frittata and vacuum sealed organic asparagus are just some of food filling the Food Recovery fridge at the moment.
This changes on a daily basis as food comes in and out supplying meals to the most vulnerable in our community.

This program is preventing valuable food from being discarded into landfill and so far over nine and half ton of food waste has been recovered.
